Picture
Wisconsin Department of Transportation to reconstruct Highway 116 from the intersection Highway 21 north to the city limits in 2018.  This will include water, sewer, storm sewer, curb and gutter and sidewalks.

Starting on March 12th, Hwy 116 (West/East River Drive) will be closed from just East of the bridge to the Pine St intersection to all but local traffic (you must live or work there or be travelling to a home or business on the route to travel in the construction zone). You will not be able to turn right onto Highway 116.  Access from the North to homes and businesses will be maintained throughout the project.

Starting around July 9th, for 30 days, the bridge will be open to northbound traffic through to Spruce Street only.  Detours are on the right of this page.  During that time, you will not be able to turn left onto Highway 21.

The final section of the project, Pine Street to city limits, will be a mill and overlay only, with some intersection improvements.

The walk bridge will be accessible at all times.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region is preparing to begin construction
on the above WIS 116 reconstruction project. You are invited to a Public Pre-Construction Meeting to discuss
scope, schedule and traffic impacts with project staff.
WIS 116 Public Pre-Construction Meeting
 When: 6 p.m., Monday, February 26, 2018
 Where: Omro Community Center, 130 West Larrabee Street, Omro
Our project involves a complete urban reconstruction of WIS 116 from just west of Spruce Street to Pine Street
and resurfacing of WIS 116 from Pine Street to the North City Limits (see project map). Work is expected to
begin on March 12, 2018 and be complete in October 2018.
WIS 116 between Spruce Street and the North City Limits will be closed and a detour route will be provided
that follows WIS 21 to I-41 to US 45. Access to businesses will be maintained. Traffic will be maintained on the
south, north, and west legs of the WIS 116/WIS 21/Spruce Street intersection except for a 30-day period when
WIS 21 will also be closed. An additional detour for WIS 21 will be provided that follows WIS 116 to County E
to County K. During this 30-day period, one-way northbound local traffic will still be maintained across the Fox
River Bridge and onto the north leg of Spruce Street. This 30-day period will not occur during the school year.
I encourage you to attend and ask questions about the improvements and to visit our WIS 116 construction
website at https://projects.511wi.gov/wis116omor/. Persons who are deaf or hard of hearing and who
require an interpreter may request one by contacting me at least three working days prior to the meeting via
the Wisconsin Telecommunications Relay system (dial 711). If you cannot attend the meeting, please feel
free to contact me at (920) 360-3124 or via e-mail at william.bertrand@dot.wi.gov.
Sincerely,
Bill Bertrand, P.E.
